On January 13, 1993, Rep. Brewster received $2,000 for giving a speech at the Tobacco Institute.

On February 13, 1993, Rep. Brewster received $2,000 for giving a speech at Philip Morris.

On February 22, 1993, Rep. Brewster purchased between 1,000 and 15,000 dollars worth of stock in RJR Nabisco.

Two weeks later (March 8), a bill was formally introduced in the House that would cause tremendous damage to RJR and the rest of the tobacco industry. The bill was, H.R. 1246: TOBACCO TAX HEALTH ACT (Referred to House Ways and Means; House Agriculture; House Energy and Commerce, Pending).

Two weeks later (March 25), Rep. Brewster received $1,000 for giving a speech at the Smokeless Tobacco Council.

One month later, Rep. Brewster received $1,000 for an appearance at the Smokeless Tobacco Council.

49 percent ($8,500) of Rep. Brewster's tobacco PAC money came from RJR's PAC.

76 percent ($4,750) of Rep. Brewster's tobacco lobbying money came from RJR lobbyists.

NOTES: Rep. Brewster sits on the House Ways and Means Committee. Rep. Brewster and his wife are both Pharmacists (i.e., trained in a MEDICAL profession). Rep. Brewster accepts significant sums of campaign money from medical interests.
