On May 4, 1993, Sen. Bond purchased between 1,000 and 15,000 dollars worth of stock in McDonnell Douglas (the largest US defense contractor).
Six days after his purchase (on May 10, 1993), PR Newswire reported that the US and Saudi Arabian governments finally signed a Letter of Offer and Acceptance (LOA) for the purchase of 72 McDonnell Douglas F-15S fighter aircraft for the Royal Saudi Air Force. The value of this deal to McDonnell Douglas is estimated at $5 billion.
It is important to note that McDonnell Douglas is headquartered in St. Louis, MO (Sen. Bond's home state).
POLITICAL MONEY: From 1989 thru 1992, Sen. Bond accepted $28,085 in campaign money that can be directly tied to McDonnell Douglas.
