REP. JAMES COOPER (D-TN)

On October 7, 1993, Rep. Cooper sold $5,140.46 worth of stock in two health care companies.

This sale is exactly ONE DAY after Rep. Cooper introduced H.R. 3222 (his widely publicized "managed competition" health care reform bill).

POLITICAL MONEY NOTES: As of October 11, 1994, Rep. Cooper has accepted more than $100,000 in individual contributions (for his current Senate campaign) from employees of health care companies. He has also accepted significant contributions from health care lobbyists including $12,500 from Cassidy & Associates, and $9,500 from Latham Watkins. In addition, Rep. Cooper has accepted more than $167,000 in individual contributions from securities/bond traders, accounting firms, and investment bankers. He received at least $17,000 from Welsh, Carson, Anderson and Stowe (an equity capital firm that specializes in buying health care companies...most recently, one in Nashville, TN).
