REP. MICHAEL CASTLE (R-DE)

  • On December 7, 1993, Rep. Castle purchased between 15,000 and 50,000 dollars worth of what may be an INITIAL PUBLIC OFFERING in Foamex International; Foamex had an IPO in progress. The quoted IPO price was $15.00 per share.
  • On July 28, 1993, Rep. Castle purchased between 1,000 and 15,000 dollars worth of stock in Shiloh Industries. He later sold this stock on September 29, 1993.

Rep. Castle's Shiloh purchase may have been an INITIAL PUBLIC OFFERING. Shiloh began its IPO in June of 1993. On July 29, 1993, (the day after Rep. Castle made his purchase) Shiloh announced that its underwriters were exercising an over-allotment purchase at the IPO price of $11.00 per share.

  • On May 20, 1993, Rep. Castle purchased between 15,000 and 50,000 dollars worth of stock in Andrew Corp. He later sold this stock on July 19, 1993. Andrew Corp. manufactures communications equipment, search, detection, navigation, guidance, aeronautical, and nautical systems/instruments.

One day ealier (May 19, 1993), a bill was introduced in the House and referred to Castle's Committee (House Merchant Marine; Subcommittee on Coast Guard and Navigation) that would appear to affect Andrew Corp. The bill was H.R. 2150: U.S. COAST GUARD APPROPRIATIONS AUTHORIZATION ACT (became P.L. 103-206).

NOTES: Rep. Castle is the former Governor of Delaware. He is # 13 on the House Merchant Marine Committee; # 5 on the Coast Guard and Navigation Subcommittee; he is # 19 on the House Banking and Finance.
