REP. SOLOMON ORTIZ (D-TX)

On September 15, 1993, Rep. Ortiz purchased between 1,000 and 15,000 dollars worth of stock in Forest Oil Company. Forest Oil is based in Denver, CO and has off-shore gas and oil operations in the Gulf of Mexico.

One day earlier (on September 14, 1993), Rep. Ortiz's House Merchant Marine and Fisheries Subcommittee on Oceanography, Gulf of Mexico and and Outer Continental Shelf (he is the CHAIRMAN of this subcommittee) held a hearing on H.R. 1282: OUTER CONTINENTAL SHELF ENHANCED EXPLORATION/DEEP WATER INCENTIVES ACT...To provide enhanced security through incentives to explore and develop frontier areas of the Outer Continental Shelf and to enhance production of the domestic oil and gas resources in deep water areas of the Outer Continental Shelf (Introduced on March 10, 1993; Referred to House Merchant Marine and House Natural Resources Committees; Last Action on September 14, 1993).

NOTES: Rep. Ortiz is Chairman of the House Merchant Marine and Fisheries Subcommittee on on Oceanography, Gulf of Mexico and and Outer Continental Shelf; he is # 13 on the House Merchant Marine and Fisheries Subcommittee on Environment and Natural Resources.

OTHER NOTES: I found a Reynaldo U. Ortiz (Senior VP of Jones Financial) living in Denver, CO (corporate HQ of Forest Oil Company), and a Reynaldo Ortiz (oil and gas lawyer with Ortiz and Garcia) living in Texas. I wonder if either of these two are related to Rep. Solomon Ortiz???
