REP. TOM BEVILL (D-AL)

On three different occasions during 1993, Rep. Bevill purchased stock in Washington Gas Light Co. (serving the Washington, D.C. area). On June 9, 1993, Rep. Bevill purchased between 1,000 and 15,000 dollars worth of stock in WGL; On September 22, 1993, he purchased between 1,000 and 15,000 dollars; On December 17, 1993, he purchased between 15,000 and 50,000 dollars.

Eight days after his initial stock purchase (on June 17, 1993), Rep. Bevill introduced H.R. 2445: ENERGY AND WATER DEVELOPMENT APPROPRIATIONS ACT...To make appropriations for energy and water development for the fiscal year ending September 30, 1994 (Referred to Senate Appropriations; Became P.L. 103-126).

POLITICAL MONEY NOTES: Interestingly, Rep. Bevill does not accept any money from Washington Gas Light's PAC. He does, however, accept significant amounts of PAC money from other natural gas distributors. In addition, he has accepted $1500 in PAC money from the Interstate Natural Gas Association of America, including a $1,000 contribution on June 23, 1993 (two weeks after his initial stock purchase).

NOTES: Rep. Bevill is the Chairman of the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Energy and Water Development.
