Last time I was slapped, my feelings were hurt, but I wouldn't call that torture.

How about we tie you down and let a 6'2", 220 lb. marine wail on you with his open hand for a while and see is you don't think that it's torture. I'm sure he might even take his graduation ring off first.

Hey ChaxC, go to http://www.blackwaterusa.com/employment/. I think they need someone who thinks like you.

I think John McCain's views on torture are more informed than yours Raul. What has always made us an admired country, especially by it's own citizens, is the morality we espoused. The is a major thing killed by Bush. We'll now be just another scummy gang, capable of anything, and then, passively changing the channel when we hear some distant scream. If anything in the world is wrong torture is. And, oh yeah, it doesn't work.

Steve, I agree that torture is a scummy thing that should be a tool left for people with no morals. I disagree that something that's been in practice world wide for centuries doesn't work.

lets experiment on you to find out

You know, I suggested that we experiment on torturing Raul as well, and he suggested that I go to work for Blackwater, which doesn't make much sense seeing as they are the ones torturing people. They just kill them. I guess it just goes to show how much you are aware of what goes on in the world Raul. By the way, the use of torture isn't used to get information. It's used to exact control. It's used to make the person do what you want. If you want a "detainee" to say where the WMDs are, torture him and he'll tell you. It probably won't be true, but he'll tell you.

Torture is the most slippery slope. Only a sadist would think it is a good idea. Let me repeat that: Only a sadist would think it is a good idea. "Rational" & "intellectual" arguments are neither rational nor intellectual. The "what if" scenarios are frought w/ false assumptions. Some people like to eat sh*t, but this doesn't make it a good idea; doesn't mean it's really tasty or good 4U. Similarly, the sadists have a "taste" for torture. This is an exact analogy. "National security", "heresy", or "salvation from satan" are like putting mustard, catsup, or relish on a turd. Unfortunately, some people will never, ever get the difference between sh*t and Shinola.
